National Energy Fund – Funded Projects 2022

Snerpa Power was one out of 18 projects selected to present at the annual event organized by the National Energy Authority, the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate, and the Green Energy Partnership. Eyrún Linnet, Co-founder of Snerpa Power, presented Snerpa Power´s software platform emphasizing its uniqueness, innovation and climate impact. Eyrún spoke about the importance of a balanced power system and how power intensive users can, with the help of Snerpa Power´s software platform, be activated in an intelligent and automated way to provide the needed balancing power and thereby serving as virtual power plants in the power system. She thanked the National Energy Fund for the important support provided to Snerpa Power which is crucial in realizing our software platform, and our industrial partners, objective of activating the first industrial load in Iceland in the regulating power market for electricity.

Snerpa Power was granted a total of 15,4 million ISK for the development of Snerpa Power´s software platform this summer. The project is one out of 9 projects in the category of Energy Efficiency funded by the National Energy Fund this year. Other focus categories were; Reduction of oil consumption in industry; Electro fuels, biofuels and methane; Charging stations for transport, and finally; Energy exchange in sea-related activities.

In total 871,7 million ISK were allocated to 137 projects in 2022.

The MaksGrid project awarded 26 MNOK

SnerpaPower, together with five grid companies and several research and technology partners, has been awarded a PILOT-E grant of 26 mNOK. The project, named MaksGrid, has a clear goal of increasing grid utilization by 25%, with special focus on the interplay between grid operators and green industries.
