This October, SnerpaPower had the honor of joining the Icelandic Business Delegation in Denmark, in conjunction with the first state visit of Iceland’s President, Halla Tómasdóttir. Hosted by His Majesty King Frederik of Denmark, the event highlighted the strengthening ties between Iceland and Denmark, with a focus on sustainable energy, climate action, and the green transition.

Green by Iceland and State of Green Denmark sign a declaration of intent

During this historic visit, we were delighted to witness the announcement of a new collaboration between Green by Iceland (Grænvangur) and Denmark’s State of Green, as both organizations are promoting green growth in their own country. On October 9th a declaration of intent was signed between the two organizations to reinforce their joint commitment to sustainability, with a particular focus on renewable energy, climate action, and the green transition.

This agreement was signed by Finn Mortensen, Executive Director of State of Green, and Nótt Thorberg, Head of Grænvangur, in the presence of Iceland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Þórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörð Gylfadóttir, and Denmark’s Minister for Climate, Energy, and Utilities, Lars Aagaard Møller. Additional attendees included Icelandic and Danish industry representatives, such as Sigurður Hannesson, Chairman of the Board at Grænvang, and Thomas Bustrup, Deputy CEO of the Confederation of Danish Industry.

I could feel the positive energy flowing throughout the program, and I’m truly inspired after listening to leaders from both countries express their ambitions to leverage the unique strengths and expertise of Iceland and Denmark. We need to take bold steps forward together for a sustainable future.

President Halla Tómasdóttir becomes the patron of Green by Iceland

On this special occasion, President Halla Tómasdóttir, and King Frederik were also present. In a symbolic gesture of ongoing commitment, President Halla Tómasdóttir announced her new role as a patron of Green by Iceland, echoing King Frederik’s longstanding patronage of State of Green since its founding.

A Shared Vision for a Sustainable Future

The collaboration between Icelandic and Danish organizations reflects the shared commitment to a sustainable future. Through this agreement, SnerpaPower and State of Green Denmark aim to tackle three critical areas: accelerating the adoption of renewable energy, driving impactful climate action, and supporting a holistic green transition. Both nations bring unique expertise to these areas, and we are excited to work together toward these mutual goals.

This event not only marked a milestone in Iceland-Denmark relations but also underscored the importance of cross-border collaboration in advancing green solutions.

At SnerpaPower we are excited to continue working with Danish partners, creating a brighter, more sustainable future for both Iceland and Denmark!
